Mrs. Barbara McQuinn of Port Washington passed away Monday, August 22, 2022 at her residence while surrounded by her loving family. She was 79 years old.
Barbara was born June 28, 1943 in Indianapolis, IN. On December 27, 1963 Barbara was united in marriage with James E. McQuinn in Greenwood, IN. The couple raised their children on military bases around the country, and Mrs. McQuinn taught preschool on base. She retired in 1993 after teaching form many years at Fort Rucker, Alabama. They moved to Port Washington in 2007 to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. James preceded her in death in 2018.
Mrs. McQuinn was an avid reader and enjoyed cross-stitch, sewing, diamond painting, and other crafts. Barbara liked watching figure skating, and was enthusiastic about interior design. She adored flowers, and lovingly tended her gardens until she was no longer able to do so.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters Helen Fletcher of Port Washington, Lisa (Ron Phulps) Mills of California, and Jai (Gurameet Singh) Khalsa of New York. She is further survived by nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, brother Donald Feider of Georgia, sister Shirley (Bob) Jackson of Indiana, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Maj. James McQuinn (US Army, Ret.), their sons James and Stuart McQuinn, and her parents Alberta "Jean" and John Feider.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 2-4PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to local Alzheimer's awareness programs.
