Avery C. Groff Mr. Avery Groff of Benjamin St. in Port Washington passed away at his residence surrounded by his family on Monday January 31 2005. He was 73 years old. Avery was born in Port Washington on November 17 1931 son of Joseph and Marcella Paulin Groff. After a stint in the US Army he was united in marriage with Lois Remich on August 7 1954 at St. Mary Catholic Church Lake Church. Mr. Groff worked for the City of Port Washington for the Street and Water Departments for 28 years retiring in March of 1987. He attended St. Peter's of Alcantara Catholic Church was an avid swimmer and enjoyed bicycling daily but he most enjoyed fixing things for other people. Avery is survived by his wife Lois of Port Washington their four children: Denise (Duane) Helms of Port Washington Mark Groff of Las Vegas Bruce Groff of New Berlin and Karen (Mike) Schueller of Belgium and 3 grandchildren. He is further survived by 2 sisters: Yvonne Theisen and Pat Neitz both of Port Washington 1 sister-in-law Darlene Wester of Belgium nieces nephews other relatives and friends. Private family services were held. Memorials in Avery's name are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family.
