Auda Mae Bucheger of Fredonia passed away peacefully at home of natural causes on Friday, February 5, 2021. She was born in Tomahawk, WI to James and Fern (Marsh) Whittington on November 4, 1923. Auda Mae married her high school sweetheart Colonel Frederick J. Bucheger, U.S. Army (Retired), D.D.S. on August 4, 1943 in Glidden, WI and together they had four children. Auda Mae graduated from Glidden High School in 1941. She was a loving and dedicated Army spouse for 32 years. She also worked at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Port Washington for over 20 years as a nurses aide while raising her children. She enjoyed camping with her family, traveling with friends, raising Scotties, working in her flower gardens, stamp collecting, and arts and crafts. She had a good sense of humor and would be the first to tell you that she was not too fond of cooking; "The only reason I have a kitchen is because it came with the house." Auda Mae is survived by her children Diana Janssen (special friend Al Boyle) of Mountain, WI and Fred (Barb) Bucheger of Grafton. She is further survived by grandchildren Bob (Becky) Grandaw, Tim Grandaw (fiancé Nicole Earley), Jason Nikolay (Brooke Juedes), Zach Bucheger (fiancé Anna Gevelinger), Sam Bucheger (Sydney Struck); her niece Marsha (Brian) Lucas; 6 great-grandchildren; and other friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, her daughter Eloise, her young son Mark, her parents, 2 sisters, and 1 brother. A private family gathering was held on February 8th. Auda Mae will be laid to rest at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Fredonia. Donations in memory of Auda Mae to the Ozaukee Humane Society at www.wihumane.org are appreciated.
