Obituary

Mr. Arthur Mike Schoenfeldt of Cascade; formerly from Grafton Port Washington and Milwaukee passed away on May 5th 2014 after unexpected medical complications. He was 77 years old. Known for his love dedication faith and humor Art will be missed by many. Art was born in Milwaukee on January 4 1937 son of Arthur F. and Adele M. Schemenauer Schoenfeldt. He graduated from North Division High School in 1955. Arthur proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as well as in the Coast Guard Reserve and the Army National Guard. On April 16 1966 Art was united in marriage with Karen Rae Norem at Layton Park Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. The couple settled in Port Washington and raised their four children. Mr. Schoenfeldt worked for Wisconsin Electric Power Company for 34 years retiring in1994. After 'retirement' Art worked for 10 years teaching CPR and first aid for the Red Cross and then worked as a maintenance engineer for his church and other local establishments. Art has always been a very involved member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Washington. Some of his roles have included head deacon church elder president of the congregation and headmaster of the St. John's Academy. Mr. Schoenfeldt was a current member of Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post #243 in Plymouth as well as a former member of Van Ells -Schanen American Legion Post #82 in Port Washington and Rose- Harms American Legion Post #355 in Grafton. Art was a former Scoutmaster lifetime member of the National Handyman's Association the NRA an avid Brewers Fan and crossword puzzler. In recent years he was actively involved with the Generations Plymouth Senior Center (the resident joke master) - and he just celebrated walking 138 miles with the 2013 walking club... time to rest those feet! Art a devoted father is survived by his four children: Kristin (John) Bradley of Ada MI Debra (Karl) Vatthauer of Middleton Susan (Steve) Fischer of Cascade and Andrew Schoenfeldt of West Bend. He was the doting Papa of six grandchildren: Mikaela Olivia Kate Jenna Michelle and Brian. Also Tasha Fischer who shared in his love of sarcasm. Further survivors include his sister Ruth (James) Nicoletti of Elgin IL nieces nephews Godchildren other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Karen his parents and sister Gloria Holter. The family will receive visitors from 3:00 - 4:30pm at St. John's Lutheran Church in Port Washington on May 8th with Funeral Services held at 4:30pm. Rev. John Klieve will preside. Military Honors will follow. Art will be laid to rest beside his wife the following day at Arlington Cemetery in Milwaukee. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers.
