Former Thiensville resident Arthur F. "Art" Emig passed away peacefully at the Hospice Center of the Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Medical Center on Friday September 27, 2019. He was 89 years old. Art is survived by his children, Rose Wood, Jean Gill (Dan Engstrom) and Beth (Dan) Anzia and grandchildren of Daniel Wood and James (Emma) Wood.
He was born February 22, 1930 in Hayton, WI. He spent his youth in Chilton, WI and later moved to South Milwaukee with his mother and brother. He attended South Division High School. Art served in the United States Army and was assigned to the National Honor Guard serving at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He married his wife Pauline (Nee Reineking) in 1956 and they eventually settled in Thiensville, WI. Together they ran a home milk delivery business serving Ozaukee and Milwaukee Counties.
Art was a well known musician and taught himself to play the concertina in his teens. He played with Shorty's Polka Pals as well as other bands for over 50 years. When he wasn't playing he loved to listen to other polka bands. Art was a huge fan of Gene Autry and had a large collection of memorabilia, music, and movies. He loved to bowl, watch the Packers (was an avid Brett Farve fan), and also enjoyed the Brewers.
Art was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Pauline, mother Evelyn Knight, and brother Earl Emig. A special Thank You to the staff of the Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Medical Center in Milwaukee for their compassionate care. A private family committal service with full Military Honors was held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery-Freistadt in Mequon, WI.
