Obituary

Arlene Joann Hauser of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at Luther Manor in Wauwatosa. She was 88 years old.

Arlene was born on June 23, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Earl and Lillian (Meyer) Maier, the oldest of four children. She attended Nazareth Lutheran School, Luther North High School, and Concordia College in River Forest, Illinois, attaining both a bachelor's and master's degree there.

On June 23, 1956 she married Ronald Luther Hauser, and together they shared a lifetime dedicated to their family and to their work in the church. Ronald passed away on November 2, 2020. They spent over 60 years together.

She was a gifted and dedicated teacher for several LCMS schools; she also worked with Ron to offer a varied music ministry through the choirs they conducted at the various churches to which they were called. Arlene directed vocal and bell choirs for both children and adults and was a stalwart member of the senior choir, helping out in both the alto and tenor sections under Ron's direction. She took great joy in serving the Lord and congregations through music ministry, and felt blessed that she could do this in partnership with her husband.

Arlene enjoyed reading, nurturing her plants and gardens, working on her various craft projects, and remembering family birthdays with hand colored cards and gifts. During her time at Luther Manor she was active in the choir, volunteered at the reception desk, was a part of the Terrace Council, and spearheaded a book club. She loved to keep busy, and to keep in touch with her friends both at Luther Manor and from throughout her life.

Arlene's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind, including her three daughters; Lynn (Bruce) Little, Beth Peterson, and Ellen Hauser; her grandchildren Chal (Krystal Poppe) Little, Nathan (Milly) Little, Katharine Little, Caroline Little, Britta (Israel) Sanchez, Lars Peterson, Bjorn (Whitney) Peterson, Inga (Gary) Olson, Maya Nepos; her great-grandchildren, Logan and Eleanor Olson and Alan Little; her siblings, Allan (Cathy) Maier and Nancy Gier; and her brother-in-law, Alan (Gail) Hauser. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

A celebration of Arlene's life will occur on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. The family will greet guests at Luther Manor's Faith & Education Center, 4545 N 92nd Street, Wauwatosa from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 11:30 AM.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Grafton.
