IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arlene Marie
Hanrahan
April 6, 1931 – May 22, 2024
Arlene Hanrahan, of Cedarburg, age 93, was lifted on angel's wings and entered Eternal Life on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. She will be reunited with her husband, Dan. They were married 36 years when he succumbed to a 20-month coma in 1991. She will meet several other loved ones in heaven, her parents George and Agnes Schiro, her dear son Brian, her brother and sister-in-law Ray and Lois Schiro, and many more beloved Hanrahan and Schiro relatives.
Arlene is survived by her son Conor (Dan Metten), and two daughters, Sandy Provencher and Bonnie (Kris) Johnson. She is also survived by grandchildren Christopher (Amber) Rickles, Ryan (Angel) Rintelman, Nicole (Ryan Eigenfeld) Rintelman, Brad (Erin Wilhelme) Rintelman, Alex Lowell, Sydney (Justin) Nawrocik, Jordan Hanrahan, and Payton (Nick Holland) Hanrahan. She is further survived by three sisters-in-law, Anna May and Barbara Hanrahan, and Annette Vertz, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Family has always been important to Arlene, and she took great pride in her role as a loving Mom.
Arlene liked helping people and delivered "Meals on Wheels" to Ozaukee County shut-ins. She was a volunteer at the Cedarburg Visitor Center for 13 years. She enjoyed being at the General Store Museum greeting visitors to her beloved Cedarburg. With a laugh, she would later recall, "I liked telling people where to go."
Her love of houses started at an early age, especially older homes. Having restored an older home built in 1885, she received an Enhancing Cedarburg Mayors Award. She prized this recognition as it was her life-long desire to find a home that really "needed her" and give it a new life. That home was featured on the 1995 Stone and Century House Tour in Cedarburg of which she was a member of the Committee for nine years. Mom loved living in Cedarburg and thoroughly enjoyed living on Cedar Creek.
Being a member of Divine Word Church known as St. Francis Borgia since 1972, she served over the years as an altar guild member and tended the altar flowers. She also felt honored to serve as a Eucharistic Minister for many years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5:00pm on Monday June 3, 2024, at St Francis Borgia Catholic Church North, 1375 Covered Bridge Rd., Cedarburg, WI 53012. The family will receive visitors at the church from 3:00-4:45ppm. Arlene will be cremated and laid to rest at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Francis Education Activity Center or the Ozaukee Humane Society are greatly appreciated.
