Lifelong Cedarburg resident Tony Fischer passed away at Lasata Care Center on Sunday October 29, 2017 at the age of 97. He was born August 25, 1920 the son of Frank and Irma (nee Bazyanac) Fischer. After graduating from Cedarburg High School, Tony began working at Doerr Electric and retired from there in 1982 with over 40 years of service. Throughout his life Tony was involved in politics, both on the national and local levels. In 1968 he served as a McCarthy delegate at the chaotic 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. Locally he was a passionate advocate for his beloved City of Cedarburg, serving on various civic boards and commissions. In retirement Tony enjoyed playing tennis, gardening, and artistic painting. His skill as a painter was recognized in 1995 when UW-Milwaukee exhibited his artwork with in a 1 Person Art Show. Tony lived his entire life in the Fischer family home on Washington Ave. until his declining health caused him move to Lasata Care Center a few years ago. He was also a lifetime member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.Tony was preceded in death by his parents, and 6 siblings: E. Stephen Fischer (former Cedarburg Mayor), Emil Fischer, Frank Fischer, Anna Rusch, Irma Coulas and Dolores Fischer. He was lovingly cared for in his later years by his niece, Sr. Jeanne Rusch, SSND "Mary Ann", and is further survived by many other nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday November 7, 2017 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church- South, W44 N6055 Hamilton Road, Cedarburg, WI 53012. Burial to follow at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass, and at a reception to be held after the cemetery committal service.
