Obituary

Tony Schommer, of Grafton, formerly of Port Washington, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, September 21, 2020 at Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa surrounded by his loving family after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. He was 56 years old. Tony was born in Port Washington on July 18, 1964, son of Daniel Schommer and Darlene Turk Schommer. He grew up in Port Washington and graduated from Port Washington High School with the class of 1982. He worked as a construction laborer and was a proud member of Laborers Local 113. Family is what Tony fought and lived for. His favorite time was that which was spent with "his girls" and grandchildren. He was always eager to teach them how to use a power tool, as well as many other life lessons. His family will cherish these lessons forever. Tony enjoyed spending time with his whole family frequently cooking for his parents and razzing His siblings. Tony's desire to help others started in his younger years as an EMT for Grafton and continue later in life as the best local handyman. He was always so happy to be able to improve his family and client's homes. In his free time Tony enjoyed trying new recipes cooking gourmet meals, exploring music, fishing, hunting and of course the Packers. Tony was just "that guy", that great guy there for everyone to listen, advise and help, this is his legacy and he would want everyone to carry it on in his honor. He is survived by his three daughters: Ashleigh (Shaun) Vnuk, Ami (Jimmy) Weeks, and Paige (Kyle) Schommer, all of Grafton. He is further survived by four grandchildren: Cecilia, Mia, James and Foster, his parents Daniel and Darlene Schommer of Fredonia, four siblings: Christine (Dale) Arendt of Port Washington, Wendy (Shannon) Grant of Belgium, Robert (Toni) Schommer of Cedar Grove, and Lee An (Eric) Hedtke of Minneapolis, MN, his loving cousins Dee Jacobson and Traci Sternweiss, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his uncle Wayne Roell. Tony's life will be celebrated on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at 12 Noon at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg. A time of gathering will take place at the funeral home from 10 AM until the time of services. Following the service, the family will be continuing to celebrate Tony's life. Details will follow. Tony's daughters wish to thank Dr. Francois Blumenfeld-Kouchner and Dr. Maul as well as the entire Aurora Grafton Cancer Center for their incredible care and compassion.
