Anna Ruth Rogers loving mother grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at 12:30 PM on Thursday afternoon March 14 2013 in Belgium Wisconsin. Anna was born on July 6 1910 in Birchwood Tennessee. She was raised by her parents in Birchwood Tennessee and she was one of many children in that Tennessee household. Anna worked very hard and emerged like a butterfly - as a strong beautiful and independent young woman. She moved to Alexandria VA and that's where she met and married her husband Allen Robert Rogers. They were married for many years until Allen's death. After Anna's children were grown she was determined to go west and she left Alexandria VA for Long Beach CA in 1962. She loved the sunshine the beaches and Knott's Berry Farm. Anna also loved to travel and she made yearly trips to visit family members that were scattered across the United States. Anna Ruth showered her family with love that enabled them to surmount any number of challenges. She beamed with pride when speaking of her family (children grandchildren great-grandchildren) and their many accomplishments. When she was ready to retire she chose Sun City AZ and lived there for many years. Anna moved to Mequon WI in 2001 to be closer to her daughter Gloria granddaughter Sherri and her great-granddaughter Ashley. Anna thought her greatest legacy was family. She was quick with a smile and loved to play with her grandchildren. She lit up a room with that smile and her laughter was contagious. Self sacrificing and bold Anna's children and grandchildren follow in her footsteps of resiliency. Anna was also an avid quilt lover and she made the best biscuits and gravy that anyone could ever imagine. Most importantly she lived her life as a Good Samaritan. The Matriarch of her family and will be greatly missed. Surviving are her children Gloria Vidal of Cedar Grove WI and Jacqueline Carter of Alexandria VA. She is further survived by Gloria's children: Deborah King of Glendale AZ Patricia Carroll of Phoenix AZ and Sherri Anderson of Wisconsin Dells WI; great-grandchildren Aimee Shane Meagan Madison Savannah and Ashley as well as great- great-grandchildren; Kiwi Yogi Basil Cyler Coco Herculine and Evangeline. She is also survived by Jacqueline's children: Robert Carter and Sherri Marquis both living in Virginia and great-grandchildren Dylan and Dean as well as Betty's children: Timothy Kimberly Kenny Karri and Kevin. Anna was preceded in death by her husband Allen daughter Betty grandson Michael her parents and her Siblings. The family will be holding a private memorial service for Anna Ruth. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the Ozaukee Humane Society.
