Obituary

Andrew Francis Malovrh passed away, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, February 20th at his home in Cedarburg, WI. Andy was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota on August 30, 1946. He is the son of the late Paul and Alice (Seguin) Malovrh. He attended St. Ambrose Catholic Grade School and High School in Ironwood, Michigan, graduating in 1964, and also received an Associate's degree from Gogebic Community College. Andy proudly served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970. He married the former Sharon Hebert on May 4, 1968, in Colby, Wisconsin. This year would have been their 50th anniversary. They spent the first three years living in Germany while Andy completed his military assignment. They then moved to Ironwood, where Andy worked as a supervisor at White Pine Copper Company for fourteen years. Upon closure of the mine, Andy and his family moved to Cedarburg, Wisconsin, where he worked for Ladish Company and the Mequon-Thiensville School District. Andy was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Ironwood, Ironwood Elks Lodge No. 1278, Ironwood Knights of Columbus Council, and he served as PTA President for Ironwood Catholic Grade School. He later joined St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Cedarburg and served as President of the McKinley Condo Association for a number of years. Andy was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a loyal friend. He was known for his humor, kindness, giving spirit, and his love of beautiful music. He was passionate about helping others, and had a profound impact on the lives of many. Over the last 19 years, he was referred to as "Grandpa Andy." He loved spending time with not only his grandchildren, but their friends as well. He will be dearly missed. Survivors include his wife, Sharon, two daughters, Angela (James) Dienhart of West Bend, WI, and Carol (Thane) Storck of Cedarburg, WI, one son, Dr. Paul Malovrh Ph.D. (Dr. Julie Wise Ph.D.) of Aiken, SC, and eight grandchildren, Melanie, Derek, Anna, Thane "T.J.", Daniel, Jasmine, Milo, and August. He is also survived by three sisters, Dr. Mary Susan Begalle (Dennis), Dr. Margaret Malovrh (Dr. Nikolay Dimitrov), and Catherine Shea, two brothers, Thomas and Paul (Rusty) Malovrh, and many nieces and nephews. Andy was a proud and committed friend of Dr. Bob and Bill W., and his family is grateful to his friends for their ongoing support and companionship. In addition, the family wishes to thank Horizon Hospice for their care. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church-North, 1375 Covered Bridge Rd., Cedarburg, WI, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 1. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. At the conclusion of Mass there will be the presentation of Military Honors followed by a reception in the Church Hall. Arrangements are being made through the Eernisse Funeral Home, Michael Schramka Associate of Cedarburg, WI. Inurnment is planned for this summer at Sunset Acres Cemetery in Ironwood, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church.
