Obituary

Andrew Thomas Dieringer, 102, passed into Eternal Life on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Lincoln Village Assisted Living in Port Washington, WI. He was born on December 30, 1922, to Thomas and Olive Dieringer in Campbellsport, WI. He was raised on farms in Campbellsport, Fond du Lac and Belgium, WI. Andrew met his wife, Audrey Thelen at Weiler's in the Town of Port Washington, and after a loving courtship, were married on January 26, 1946. They were married for 73 years.

Andrew farmed in the small community of Holy Cross in the town of Belgium where he and mom raised their 8 children. They lived a busy life on the farm, where Andrew raised pigs and chickens for several years and he always had milking cows. They lived an active social life, attending dances in the area, belonging to several bowling teams, and several Sheepshead playing groups, in fact the last time Andrew played sheepshead was with his daughter two weeks before he died! In the 60s, Andrew joined the NFO (National Farmers Organization) where he held several leadership positions. He was also a member of the Ozaukee School Board for several years. They traveled to Europe in the 70's and out west in their later years visiting friends and family. Andrew retired from farming in 1994 and began his new adventure in a home in Cedar Grove, where they lived for 13 years. They spent their final years in Port Washington where Andrew was an active member of The Gideon Society, and a frequent letter writer to the Ozaukee Press and The Sounder in Random Lake.

Andrew is survived by his children Jeanne (Ronald) Karrels of Casa Grande, AZ, Charles (Kathleen) Dieringer of Saukville, William Dieringer of Houston, TX, Christine (Edwin) Perrine of Vanceburg, KY, and David (Cindy) of Guthrie, OK. He is further survived by 29 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren, daughter-in-law Sandy Dieringer, and son-in-law Dave Mertes.

Andrew is also survived by sisters Phyllis (the late Ed) Stemper, and Betty (the late Peter) Grant, as well as brother Jim (the late Lynn); and in-laws Jerry (the late Tallulah) Thelen, Richard (Barb) Thelen, Charles (Joan) Thelen, Erla Mae (the late Ron) Schneider, Rita (Clete) Schneider, Dan Tedesco, Kathy (the late Don) Harmeling, Mary (the late Patrick) Thelen and Mary Ann (Dave) Schowalter.

Andrew was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Audrey, children Stephen, Carole Mertes and Robert, brothers Gregor, Adolph and Jean, Thomas and Barbara, Francis and Patricia, and sister Lucille and Don Odekirk; father and mother-in-law Bernard and Amanda Thelen, sisters and brothers-in-law Lois and Marvin Anzia, Marilyn and LeRoy Averill, William Thelen, Clifford and Katie Thelen, Ruth Tedesco, Daniel and Nancy Thelen, and Patrick Thelen.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, November 8th at Open Door Bible Church, 3420 Hwy LL, Port Washington. Pastor Sid Litke will preside. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 11am-1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials to the Open Door Bible Church Building Fund or to The Gideon Society.
