Obituary

Alvin Matthew Zettler, age 80, passed peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon, WI.

Al was the youngest of six children born to Ewald Alvin Zettler and Marcella Johanna Hermann. He arrived at 11:55 A.M. - just in time for lunch as his mother told it – at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, WI on September 30, 1943. The family resided in Boltonville. After graduating from Kewaskum High School in 1961, Al worked various manufacturing jobs, including 3 years at Weasler, Mfg. in Kewaskum, WI.

In April 1964, Al met his future wife, Diane Pauline Rosewitz, at the Catholic Young People's Club in West Bend, WI. They were married on July 23, 1966 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. After the marriage, the couple lived in Port Washington so Al took a job at Bolens Mfg. Company in that city. He did machine repair and was the company electrician. He worked at Bolens for almost 31 years, leaving only because the company shut down the factory in Port Washington. From June 1998 to the time of his retirement in July 2010, Al was employed by Metals USA in Germantown, WI

Al was a quiet man who enjoyed quiet sports like tennis, cross- country skiing, canoe racing, biking and whitewater canoeing and kayaking. The couple took scuba diving lessons in West Bend and then went to the Florida Keys to put what they learned into practice. Al and Diane were two of the original members of the Port Promenader's Square Dance Club. After a trip to Gatlinburg, TN Al took up woodcarving. His specialty was Christmas ornaments, but he carved other things as well. Al was an incredible do-it-yourselfer. He could fix anything. He held a Port Washington Electrical License for many years.

Al is survived by his wife, Diane; brother Ronald; sister Arlene (John) Beisbier; sisters-in law Alice Zettler, Jean (Joseph) Gasser and Jan Albrecht; Francis Ansay (husband of sister-in-law, Joan); many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents Ewald and Marcella; infant brother Orville; brother Kenneth; brother and sister-in-law Roger & Rosemary; sister-in-law Lucille Zettler; nephews, Roger Zettler, Jr., David Zettler and Marvin Zettler; mother and father-in-law Erwin and Rose (Begusch) Rosewitz; sister-in-law Mary Ann (Rosewitz) Liermann and her husband, Donald; sister-in-law, Joan Rosewitz Ansay; and Ron Albrecht, husband of sister-in-law, Jan.

No services will be held at this time. Al's cremains will be interred at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery Columbarium in Port Washington.

Though absent you are always here,

Loved and missed and very dear.

I know you won't come back it's true,

But someday I will come to you.
