Alvah "Al" Francis Butler of Alexian Village in Milwaukee, formerly of Grafton and Mequon, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018, of natural causes. He was 95 years old. Al was the son of the late Herbert Alvah Butler and Frances Irene Gibson Butler of Salem, VA and Stamford, CT. Al was born in New York City and lived in Connecticut, Virginia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Georgia and North Carolina. He grew up in Stamford CT graduating from Stamford High School and Wright Technical Institute before proudly serving in the United States Army Air Force during WWII as a Link Trainer Instructor and in Special Services. Mr. Butler was the Vice President of Sales of the Automotive Division of Briggs & Stratton Corporation, retiring as Vice President of Automotive Sales and Technical Services in 1986. He enjoyed woodworking, boating, camping, traveling and being with his family. Al is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lois Janet Cooper Butler, and their three beloved sons: Craig (Mary) Butler of Grafton, Kenneth (Sharon) Butler of Plano, TX, and David (Ann) Butler of Cedarburg. He is also survived by eight loving grandchildren: Ryan (Megan) Butler, Courtney Butler, Christy Severino, Melanie, Olivia, Katherine, Alvah and Natalie Butler, as well as six great-grandchildren. Mr. Butler was a member of St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Mequon for many years; A Memorial Service and celebration of Al's life will be held at 11AM on Saturday, March 10th at St. Boniface Church, 3906 W. Mequon Road, Mequon. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Saturday from 10AM - 11AM; following the service there will be a reception and luncheon. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Boniface Episcopal Church Memorial Fund (3906 W. Mequon Rd, Mequon, WI 53092) or to the American Diabetes Association.
