Allan J. Schowalter age 83 years of Port Washington died Friday November 8 2013 at his residence. He was born October 2 1930 in Port Washington son of the late Joseph and Dorothy Feltes Schowalter. Allan graduated from Port Washington High School and attended UW Madison prior to serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. On February 19 1952 he married Betty Tuchscherer in New Jersey. After returning home from the Army he went to work for J.J. Schowalter Co. in Port Washington a carnival supply firm started by his father in 1930. He continued to operate the company along with other family members until retiring. Allan was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington Van Ells-Schanen American Legion Post 82 of Port Washington Ozaukee Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5373 and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing piano woodcarving oil painting and being outdoors pursuing hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife Betty four children Michael of Saukville Susan Schmidt of Port Washington Cathy (Jim) Thompson of Cedarburg and Gary of Fredonia eight grandchildren Tracy Jonathan Andrew Angela Joshua Jacquelyn Chad and Patrick 2 great grandchildren Austin and Jiana and two sisters Rita Decker of Port Washington and Lenore (Emory) Medinger of Sun City West AZ. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters Sylvia Adam and Dolly Barclay and 1 brother Jerome Bud Schowalter. Funeral Friday Nov. 15 6:30 PM at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church 1800 N. Wisconsin St. Port Washington. In state at the CHURCH Friday from 4-6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials to American Cancer Society or Alzheimers Foundation appreciated.
