Obituary

Mrs. Alice C. Karrels Mrs. Alice Karrels age 88 years recently of Harbor Village formerly of Fredonia passed away in the morning hours of Tuesday November 14th 2006 at Coulmbia-St. Mary's Ozaukee Campus in Mequon surrounded by her loving family. Alice was born in Cedar Grove on October 13 1918 daughter of Michael and Cecelia Freiman Jacoby. After graduating from Port Washington High School Alice was united in marriage with Arnold Karrels on November 23 1940 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church. They owned and operated a farm in the Town of Fredonia. He preceded her in death on June 4th of this year. Mrs. Karrels was a member of Holy Rosary Parish St. Rose Chapel Fredonia where she was also a member of the Christian Women and formerly worked in the rectory office. She was a member of the Fredonia Lioness group had been a volunteer at St. Alphonsus Hospital in Port Washington and was a former 4H knitting instructor. Alice enjoyed knitting crocheting sewing and working crossword puzzles. She had a green thumb that included taking care of many house plants and African Violets. Mrs. Karrels also enjoyed cooking and made many meals that fed the farm- hands when they still owned the farm. Grandchildren and family always topped the list of favorite ways to spend her time. Alice is survived by her five children: Mike (Char) Karrels of Grafton Margie (Bob) Lallensack of Fredonia Pat (Mark) Westen of Elm Grove Diane (John) Plantz of Cadott and Nancy (David Roggenbuck) Karrels of Fredonia 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by 1 sister Mary Jane Depies of Fredonia 2 sisters-in-law: Loraine Jacoby of Cedar Grove and Dolores Mayer of Jackson nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Arnold and 2 brothers: Walter and Fred Jacoby. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday November 18th 2006 at Holy Rosary Parish St. Rose Chapel in Fredonia with Father Jim Ernster officiating. Burial will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery Fredonia. Friends may call at the Church on Saturday November 18th from 9-11AM.
