Obituary

Mr. Alfred Lubner of Cedarburg passed away unexpectedly on September 19 2014 at his home. He was 90 years old. Mr. Lubner was born on October 29 1923 in the Town of Saukville the son of Frank and Martha Slawny Lubner. He attended school at St. Mary's (Immaculate Conception) Catholic School in Saukville and also Grafton High School until he entered the service at age 16. Buddy proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps from 1942-1946. He married Dorothy Scherf of Cedarburg on April 10 1948. They were happily married until her passing in 1975. On November 6 1981 Buddy married Arline Scherf (nee Koehler) at Faith Lutheran Church in Cedarburg. She preceded him in death in 2011. Buddy was a tool die maker until he started Cedarburg Sign Company. He owned Cedarburg Sign Co. for 43 years. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Cedarburg and the Peter Wollner American Legion Post 288. Buddy was an avid sportsman and loved hunting and his yearly fishing trip to Canada and fall Muskie fishing in Northern Wisconsin. He enjoyed collecting antique cars. In his later years he and Arline enjoy camping trips with their Hi-Lo friends. They traveled throughout the Midwest with their dog Tiki and their cat Kitty meeting their friends from the Hi-Way Loafers and the Hi-Lo Friends. Mr. Lubner is survived by his children Tom (Kathleen) Lubner of Grafton and Kathy (Troy Stuart) Lubner of Fredonia. He is further survived by his step-daughter Donna Hertzberg of Hawaii. He is further survived by his eight grandchildren nine great-grandchildren his brother Richard Lubner of Long Beach CA his sister Lillian Wilhelm of Cedarburg nieces nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by 7 brothers 3 sisters and his step-son James (Pat Buhrow) Scherf. A Memorial Service will be held at 6 PM on Tuesday September 30th at the Funeral Home. Pastor John Norquist of Faith Lutheran Church Cedarburg will officiate. A time of gathering will be held on Tuesday September 30th at the Funeral Home from 3:30 until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the Peter Wollner American Legion Post 288 of Cedarburg or the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.
