It is with deep sadness that the family of Aleksandr L. Melnikov announce his passing on June 7th, 2024. "Alex" courageously attempted to save his cherished 3 yr-old chocolate lab Kobe, as he was taken by the Milwaukee River near the Thiensville dam.

Alex was born in Lyuban, Belarus on April 17th, 1972, to Leonid and Zinaida Melnikov. At the age of 23, alongside his family Alex emigrated to the United States to begin a new chapter of life. Alex flourished as an electrician, founding A&V Electrical and garnering admiration throughout the Ozaukee and North Shore communities. Famed for his green thumb, Alex spent countless hours tending to his garden, planting trees, and weaving trails through his Mequon property. As an avid outdoorsman Alex pursued his passion for fishing and hunting throughout the state of Wisconsin, always accompanied by his faithful companion, Kobe. They were inseparable friends and will remain in the memories of all who knew them and beyond.

Alex leaves behind his beloved son Vlad (Molly) Melnikov, former wife Natalya Melnikov, his sister Lyudmila (Aleksandr) Morozov and nephew Artyom Morozov.

A Funeral Service for Alex will be held at 12:00pm on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave. Cedarburg, WI 53012. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 10:00am – 11:45am. Alex will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Mequon immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in Alex and Kobe's names to the Ozaukee Humane Society or charity of your choice.

Alex's family would like to express sincere gratitude to the countless first responders, community members, and friends involved in this tragic incident.
