Albert "Lefty´ Remitz, age 97 years of Port Washington, formerly of Saukville, passed away at his residence on Wednesday evening, February 28, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born July 18, 1920 in Port Washington, son of the late Joseph and Mary Repenshek Remitz. Albert graduated from Port Washington High School and served in the Merchant Marines during WW II. On July 24, 1948, he married Leona Wilde . Albert worked in Port Washington as a commercial fisherman on Lake Michigan for Joe Cayner and later in the processing plant for Ewig Brothers and Smith Brothers until retiring. Albert was a member of St. John XXIII Parish and a former member of Immaculate Conception Holy Name. Survivors include his wife Leona, two children Barbara (Richard) Gahan of Port Washington and Alan (Roxanne) Remitz of St. Charles, IL, 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and his sister Judy (Ralph) Bauer of Green Valley, AZ. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Margaret Blick and Rita Miller, and one brother Ralph Remitz. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 9, 6 PM at St. John XXIII Immaculate Conception Church, Saukville with Father Patrick Wendt presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Saukville. Visitation at the CHURCH Friday from 4 -6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Valley Sheltered Workshop (for Albert's grandson John), 325 Main St., Batavia, IL 60510 is appreciated.
