Obituary

Ada M. Decker Long time Port Washington resident Ada Decker passed away after a long battle with cancer on September 4 with her youngest son and Chaplain by her side. She was 94 years old. She fought three separate battles with cancer since the sixties finally succumbing to blood cancer after defeating the previous two. Ada Mildred Dozier was born May 27 1920 in Saybrook IL the daughter of Roy Dozier and Viola Travis Dozier. She received her BA in business at Illinois Wesleyan College in Bloomington and worked for the Navy at Great Lakes where she met WK Decker. On October 17 1942 she was united in marriage with WK Decker. He preceded her in death in 2004. Ada worked in Ozaukee circuit court branch two for Judge Grady for many years ran for office and was the last elected City Clerk of Port Washington. Ada was an administrator and accounting expert who wasn't satisfied unless numbers tallied up at the bottom of the spread sheet. She ran Port Washington quietly and efficiently in her years as City Clerk using her shorthand skills to take the minutes for various meetings; even though it extended her work weeks by many hours. She did the books in the family business after retiring as City Clerk spent her retirement alternating between Apache Junction AZ and Port Washington as a snow bird with her husband and enjoyed being with her family exploring new places. Ada is survived by her sons Keith (Jane) of Madison and Wesley of Port Washington and six grandchildren: Shannon Kyle Megan Steve (Brooke) Erin and Kelsey. She is further survived by her great-grandchild Tim Decker daughter-in-law Maureen Decker of Cambridge WI other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Wilton Kenneth Decker and son Stephen Wayne Decker. A Memorial Service will be held at 6PM on Friday September 12 2014 at Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave in Port Washington. Chaplain Dave Stone will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 4-6PM. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org). The Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
