Obituary

Mathew F. Linden Jr. Math Linden of Saukville passed away peacefully Friday morning April 18 2014 at Cedar Springs in Cedarburg surrounded by his family. He was 84 years old. Math was born September 21 1929 in Thiensville the son of Mathew and Lydia Ellenbecker Linden. After graduating from Port Washington High School he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1947-1951. Afterwards he earned a degree in structural technology from MATC. On February 9 1957 he was united in marriage with Kathryn Krier at St. Mary's Catholic Church Lake Church. For 20 years he worked in the construction industry as a carpenter. For the next 20 years he worked as a building inspector for the City of Milwaukee before retiring in 1994. Math was a proud veteran who belonged to the Chosin Few VFW Post #5373 North Shore Marine Corps League Detachment #1289 and the American Legion Post #470 where he had served as Post Commander. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus 11657 Council and had been active in Scouting for 25 years in Milwaukee County. Math enjoyed building homes genealogy traveling and gardening. Math is survived by his wife Kathryn and their two children: Col. Douglas (Alison) Linden of Columbus GA and Lois Linden (Phil) Newby of Grafton. He is further survived by grandchildren: Jeremy (Courtney) and Kaitlynn Dandy and Bryce and Claire Linden great-grandchildren: Makaela Mason and 1 great-granddaughter on the way sister Bonnie (Bill) Thurston of NV brothers: Gene of Saukville Charles (Connie) of CA and Col. Otto (Mary) of NC nieces nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his sister Margery Linden and brothers: Jerome Frederick and Leland. A Memorial Mass will be held at 12 noon on Friday May 2 at Immaculate Conception 145 W. Church St. Saukville. Full military honors will follow mass. He will be entombed at St. Mary's Mausoleum Port Washington. The family will receive visitors at the church on Friday from 10AM - 12 noon. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post #470 the Port Washington Food Pantry or the North Shore Marine Corp League. The Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington is honored to be serving the family.
