Dorothy Luft of Highway Z in Waubeka passed away at her home on Sunday evening March 16 2014. She was 88 years old. Dorothy was born in Milwaukee on December 2 1925 daughter of Michael and Alma Loke Schlehlein. The family moved to a farm in Fredonia when she was two years old. On May 21 1949 Dorothy was united in marriage with Warren Luft at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fredonia. They couple purchased Stony Hill Farm and settled down to farm and raise their family. Mrs. Luft worked the farm during the day while her husband worked as a mechanic and they frequently planted and harvested long into the evenings. Warren preceded her in death in 2007. Dorothy was a former member of St. Paul's Community UCC in Waubeka and a current member of St. Martin's UCC in Fillmore a member of the Waubeka Flag Day VFW Post 7037 Auxiliary and a 46 year member of the Kettle Moraine Model T Vintage Car Club. Dorothy was a gardener and was well known for the large field of dahlias she planted every year. She canned and froze much of the produce in her garden for her family. Dorothy is survived by her three children: Frederick (Sandra) Luft of Kewaskum Christine Luft of Waubeka and Alan (Nancy) Luft of Cambria. She is further survived by five grandchildren: Cassandra (fianc Shawn Montanio) Heidi (Tav) Castillo Raighne Kale and Lily Mitchell-Luft sister-in-law Judy Schlehlein of Sheboygan nieces nephews other relatives friends and her beloved cat Frisky. She is preceded in death by her husband Warren and two brothers: John (the late Audrey) and Robert Schlelehlein. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 22nd at 3:30 PM at St. Martin United Church of Christ 692 Hwy H Fillmore. Dan Noennig will conduct the service. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in St. Paul Cemetery Waubeka. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Saturday from 1- 3:30 PM. The Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
