Obituary

DORIS H. McNEIL Mrs. Doris McNeil of Port Washington formerly of Elkhorn passed away at Ellen's Home late Tuesday evening April 22 2014. She was 93 years old. Doris was born in Chicago on February 24 1921 one of ten children born to Martin and Hulda Olson Ulfeng. She grew up in Chicago and moved to Williams Bay WI in the early 1940's. At the start of World War II Doris met Edward McNeil. The two married on April 28 1944 and later settled in Sharon WI where they raised their family. They moved to Elkhorn in 1963. Mrs. McNeil worked as an LPN at Walworth County Nursing Home for almost twenty years retiring in 1983. Mr. McNeil preceded her in death in 1985. Doris moved to Port Washington in 2000 to be closer to her daughter and has resided at Ellen's Home since 2009. Mrs. McNeil was a member of St. Simon the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Port Washington where she was active in the church women's group and bible study. She was an avid reader who enjoyed reading history and Christian books. Doris also enjoyed crocheting taking care of her plants and spending time with her family. In her younger days Doris was quite a singer and had been a longtime member of the Sweet Adelines a competitive women's barbershop group. She is survived by her three daughters: Kathleen (Jon) Hampton of North Fort Meyers FL Patricia (the late Raymond) Kindschy of Port Washington and Jacqueline (the late Steven) Jennison of Elkhorn as well as 13 grandchildren: Andre Tiffany Heather Amanda Keith Jonathan Sharry Becky Lidia Debbie Krystal Danielle and Nicole. She is further survived by 11 great-grandchildren nieces nephews other relatives and friends. Doris is preceded in death by her husband Edward son Kenneth Ulfeng 5 brothers: Earl infant Wilbur Kenneth Wilber and Milton Ulfeng and 4 sisters: Ruth Bonny Lorraine Kjelstad and infants Martha and Helen Ulfeng. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 AM on Saturday April 26th at St. Simon the Fisherman Episcopal Church 3448 Green Bay Road Port Washington. Father Julian Hill will preside. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Saturday from 10-11AM. Memorials are suggested in her name to St. Simon the Fisherman Episcopal Church or to Heartland Hospice. The Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
