Obituary

C. Fredrick Bley, "Fred", passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the age of 91 surrounded by his loving family including Betty, his wife of 64 years. He was born in Port Washington, Wisconsin on July 4, 1930, to Alois and Frances (Antoine) Bley. While attending Marquette University, Fred was drafted into the United States Army. He was honorably discharged after serving during the Korean War. Fred and his brothers enjoyed a good game of bowling, often at Bley Bowling, which was owned by his father Alois. Fred also enjoyed playing sheepshead, golfing, the Packers, camping and traveling, spending time up north at Lake Arrowhead, taking a country drive, and playing pool at the Senior Center. Fred will be remembered by all for his quick wit and his constant joking. He had a sweet tooth and a sweet place in his heart for his family that loved him dearly. Fred is survived by his loving wife Betty, children Jackie (Tony) Miller, John (Leslie) Bley, Jeanne (George) Chaney, Joe (Susan) Bley, and Joanne (Bill) Penkwitz, grandchildren David (Lizzy) Miller, Liz Bley, Sam Bley, Charlie Chaney, Andrew Chaney, Ellen Bley, Erica Bley, Emily Bley, Elyse Bley, Anna Penkwitz and Alex Penkwitz, one great grandchild Max Miller. He is also survived by his brother Gary (Shirley) Bley and sisters-in-law Iva, Char and Esther Bley. Fred is further survived by other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Fred is preceded in death by his brothers Bob, Don, Allan, and Bill Bley and sisters-in-law Sylvia, Pat and Germaine (Tom). A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John XXIII Parish – St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church 1800 North Wisconsin Street on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 6:00 PM. Father Patrick Wendt will officiate. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 PM until the time of the service at 6:00 PM. Fred will be inurned at St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date. Fred's family wishes to thank Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and Aurora Medical Center – Grafton for the care and compassion they provided. The family welcomes donations to The Food Pantry of Port Washington or the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls as an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers.
