Obituary:

William “Bill” Kacheris, of Port Washington, passed away unexpectedly at his residence in the early morning hours of Sunday, February 21, 2010. Bill was born in Chicago, IL on March 18, 1923, son of Peter and Bessie Portola Kacheris.  He served his country during WWII as a member of the Army Air Corp.  On September 24, 1949 he married Carmella Scaffidi in Chicago.  Bill worked as an electrician for Hub Electric in Chicago, and then for Arlington Heights, IL, retiring in 1988.  The couple moved to Port Washington shortly after to enjoy their retirement.  Bill loved to spend time at the family cottage on Boulder Lake in Northern Wisconsin.  He also enjoyed fishing, reading, following the stock market, and going for walks around the city of Port, especially the Bluff area and the downtown.  He is survived by his wife Carmella of Port Washington, his children Peter (Sylvia) Kacheris of Hartland and Penny (Randy) Howell of Oconomowoc.  He is further survived by 6 grandchildren; Carmen and Mirabai Simon, Ben (Karen) Kacheris, Leanne (Bill) Zoesch, Jeff Kacheris and Jennifer Howell, 5 great-grandchildren, Mathew, Jonathan, Abbey, Michael and Tom Kacheris, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  Bill was preceded in death by his daughter Roseann Kacheris, and 6 brothers and 4 sisters.  A Memorial Mass will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 20th at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington. He will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 11AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church. The Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
