Gilbert E. Miller
January 31, 1928 - October 4, 2013
Biography

Gilbert Miller found peace in the arms of his Lord on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice after a valiant battle with cancer. He was 85 years old. Gilbert was born on January 31, 1928, son of William and Annetta Fox Miller on the family farm in the town of Sherman.
On August 12, 1950 he married Margaret Schommer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Random Lake where they worshipped their entire married life.
He was drafted into the US Army in November 1950. He and Marge spent his entire military career at Fort Knox, Kentucky until his honorable discharge in November of 1952.
He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish in Random Lake. Gib was also a proud member of the Hamm-Miller-Dietrich American Legion Post in Random Lake, named in honor of his eldest brother, James Miller who was killed in WWII.
Gib could be seen driving his scooter to Lakeside (formerly Krier) Foods in Random Lake where he was a maintenance supervisor for 32 years. After retiring he transported vehicles for Ernie von Schledorn in Random Lake. He enjoyed driving and took Marge with him so they could enjoy the day together. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, working on puzzles, Sudoku, and there was never a family gathering without an intense game of Sheepshead. He was also an avid golfer and a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Marge of Random Lake, his two sons Daniel (Maggie) of Oostburg and Michael (Diane) Miller of Random Lake. He is further survived by six grandchildren; Jason (Staci) Miller and Ryan (Tammy) Miller both of Indianapolis, IN, Julia (Jamon) Ingelse of Belgium, Brian Miller of Random Lake, Samantha (Fiancé Eric Cullen) Miller of Random Lake and Kyle Miller of Random Lake, seven great-grandchildren; Zoe, Cade, Saige, Asia, Danielle, Charlotte and Ian, three brothers Merlin (Dolores) of Greenbush, Menroy (Beverly) of Port Washington and Bill (Marilyn) of Random Lake, sisters-in-law Pearl Miller of Random Lake, Ruth Heuer of Grafton, Kathleen Thelen of Saukville and Monica (Steven) Frantz of Greer, SC, Mary Schommer of Sherwood, brother-in-law Robert (Jean) Schommer of Fort Myers, FL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers James and Harold, brothers and sisters-in-law Dolores and Jerry Doll, Gene Heuer, Donald Schommer, five nephews and two nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 9th at 6 PM at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, St. Mary's Chapel in Random Lake. Father Richard Cerpich will preside over Mass. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Random Lake. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9th at the CHURCH from 3-6 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to the Random Lake Ambulance Service or Our Lady of the Lakes Parish. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Belgium is honored to serve the family.
