Obituary for Karen E. Majerus

Karen E. Majerus born on September 25,1948, the daughter of Wilford and Lenore Gosewehr of Saukville, passed away on her half-birthday on March 25,2017 in Mesa, AZ. She attended town of Saukville elementary schools and graduated from PWHS - class of 1966.

A free spirit her entire life, Karen left the Milwaukee area in 1967 and never looked back. She went to California to start a 40+ year career in the insurance industry. In 1975 she came back to Wisconsin to meet her blind date for her brother’s wedding and then married that guy, John, in 1976. She moved back to Wisconsin to continue her insurance career as a liability claims adjuster in many fields, but probably enjoyed long haul trucking claims and medical malpractice claims the most. Her love of dealing with lawyers was probably more of a love of challenging them. There was never a dull moment with Karen around. Karen retired in 2007, then with John, sold the house, bought an RV and hit the road - following the sun and again never looking back. Living full-time in an RV was a dream she was not ready to give up. She traveled many, many miles from Key West, FL to Fairbanks, AK and the Arctic Circle, from San Diego, CA to Prince Edward Island, CN. She stopped at every wildlife refuge along the way and tried to ID many birds. She met many, many people in her travels and would hug most of them. She was a “hugger” and will be missed by many.

Karen is survived by John, her husband of 40 years, sister Gloria Arredondo, brothers Roy (Judy) Gosewehr and Dave Gosewehr, sisters-in-law Caroline (Richard) Thiel and Mary Beth (Michael) Schiller, nieces Claudine Arredondo and Dawn (Martin) Morante, nephews Steve (Shannon) and Ryan (Rocio) Gosewehr, Jim and Jeff Thiel. Grand nieces Josephine Graf (her favorite cookie baking buddy), Clara and Alesandra Gosewehr and Grand nephew Alec Gosewehr.

Per Karen’s wishes, there will only be private family funeral.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Special Olympics Wisconsin, American Heart Association or National Wildlife Federation.
